Abstract

Tioga Forte soft capsules were evaluated for acute and repeated – dose toxicities in mice and rabbits, respectively. The acute toxicity results indicated that LD50 of Tioga Forte soft capsules in mice according to the method of Behrens is greater than 70.7 capsules/kg body weight. In the repeated – dose toxicity study, rabbits were administrated Tioga Forte soft capsules with the doses of 0.560 and 1.680 capsules/kg for 28 days (equivalent to human dose and 3 times human dose). Blood sample were taken on day 0, day 14 and day 28 of experiment for hematological, biochemical exams. Liver and kidney samples were taken on day 29 for histopathological determinations. The repeated dose toxicity results revealed that there were no significant differences in hematological and serum biochemical values between control and treatment groups. Furthermore, no histopathological damages in the liver and kidney of rabbits treated with Tioga Forte soft capsules were observed.
