Development of a process to quantify free formaldehyd in shampoo using HPLC method
Main Article Content
Abstract
A HPLC-based method was developed for identification and determination of formaldehyd in shampoo. This method involves chemical derivatization with 2,4-DNPH. Formaldehyd dissolved in solution from shampoo matrices with water following by chromatographic on C18 (250 x 4,6 mm; 5 µm) column with a mixture of water and acetonitril (55 : 45) as mobile phase, maintaining at flow rate of 1.0 mL per minute, UV-Vis detector was set at 355 nm. The method was validated about the specificity, linear range, precision, accuracy, LOD, LOQ, and validation results proved that this method was suitable for determination of formaldehyd in shampoo.
